Head of School
Joseph E. Sanelli
Joseph E. Sanelli was born in South Philadelphia where his family remained until age three when they moved to Southern New Jersey where he spent his formative years. His experience with Christian schooling began when his parents sent him to The King’s Christian Academy in Cherry Hill, NJ. He graduated from TKCS in 1988. After high school, Joe attended Eastern University in St. David’s, PA on an athletic scholarship for soccer and basketball. He graduated from Eastern University in December of 1991 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology.
Joe entered graduate school at Eastern in January of 1992 and earned his Masters of Education degree from there in May of 1993.
He began his career in Christian schooling when he was hired by his high school Alma Matter in 1992 to coach JV Basketball. The next year he accepted a position at Cumberland Christian School in Vineland, NJ as Athletic Director, Physical Education teacher and coach. That was a special year for Joe as he met and fell in love with the third grade teacher Carolyn Ruth Johnson who would become his wife in 1993.
Joe left CCS to pursue a position with Red Lion Christian Academy. During his first year he was also given the opportunity to work as an adjunct professor for Cape Atlantic Community College. The newlyweds then moved to Delaware where they would remain for the next ten years. During that time Joe’s career grew as well as his family. Carolyn gave birth to their son Calvin Joseph in 1995, their daughters followed, Rebekah in 1998 and Rachel in 2000.
In 1995, while working for Red Lion Christian Academy, a ministry of Red Lion Evangelical Free Church, Joe finished his Masters of Divinity in Christian Counseling and was ordained later that year. He was then hired as the Youth Pastor for Red Lion E. Free Church while remaining as a teacher in the school. He would serve in both roles for the next three years until an increased role in administration pulled him to serve full-time for just the school. During his time at Red Lion Christian Academy, the school grew from less than 200 students to almost 700. While in Delaware Joe also served as Vice-President for the state soccer association and was the driving force behind the formation of the Diamond State Athletic Conference for which he served as President for the first two years.
In 2002 Joe accepted the position of Chief School Administrator of Atlantic Christian School in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. Under his six years of leadership, the school moved to a new campus, held three major capital campaigns and enrollment grew from 160 to just over 500. During his time at ACS Joe also served as the school’s Athletic Director and coached several varsity sports.
The decision was difficult, but in 2008 Joe moved the family to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to become the second Headmaster in the history of Covenant Christian Academy. Although he faced many challenges at his new school, he led the school during two major building campaigns, represented the school as the project manager for the building of their new Field House and Fine Arts Center and grew enrollment from approximately 180 students to a height of over 270. Besides his duties as Headmaster, he also served as Athletic Director and coached varsity athletics. His varsity boys’ soccer team won the league championship in 2011 and 2012. All three of his children attended CCA and Carolyn taught 5th grade there as well. Although he greatly enjoyed his time at CCA, he felt the Lord calling him to a new opportunity.
In March of 2014 the Lord answered his prayers when He led Joe and his family to Coral Springs Christian Academy. The family was very excited about this new chapter in their life. In Joe’s first 2 years at CSCA the family has become greatly involved in the life of CSCA. Cal currently attends Warner University, while both Rebekah and Rachel are in high school here at CSCA. The 2016/17 school year will be Joe’s 3rd year as Head of School here at CSCA.
Joe came to CSCA with more than twenty years of experience in Christian schooling. He also has a teaching certificate from the state of NJ as well as a lifetime teaching certificate and a superintendent’s certificate from the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).
High School Principal
LeRoy Schwab was born in Warren, Pennsylvania and spent his early years in Texas and western Pennsylvania. He moved to Youngstown, Ohio and attended school through junior high in the suburbs of that thriving steel community. A job transfer for his father brought him to Ft. Lauderdale where he attended Northeast High School as a member of its first graduating class. He graduated as an honors student and participated in the athletic program in basketball, baseball, and tennis. With aspirations to major in math, he began his college career at Georgia Tech. Quickly realizing that his passion was more suited to athletics, he returned to south Florida and completed an associates degree at Broward College before accepting a tennis scholarship to East Tennessee State. He received a Bachelor and Masters degree from Florida Atlantic University and later completed the Administrative and Supervision program to receive Florida State certification in school administration.
After graduation, Mr. Schwab became a faculty member of the newly formed school ministry at Westminster Academy. He served there for thirty-nine years as the initial athletic director, coach of multiple athletic teams, teacher, assistant principal, secondary principle, academic dean, assistant headmaster, and interim headmaster. He was elected to serve as the president of the Broward County Non-Public School Association.

Mrs. Sorrentino is passionate about education and making a difference in the lives of children. She felt called into Christian education when her children began school. She realized quickly that in order for her children to thrive in all facets of their lives, they needed more than a school with good curriculum. They needed to be part of a school community which would provide them with an environment that would promote strengthening of their faith, an environment in which they would be surrounded by adults who modeled Christian principles and an environment in which they could freely put their faith into practice. She wanted to be partner with families in raising up Christian leaders for God’s glory.
“I am privileged and honored to be part of this great ministry and the CSCA family. It is with great excitement that I step into the role of Middle School Principal, in the coming school year. My priority is to ensure that our middle school program is a program of academic excellence, with a strong emphasis in language arts, mathematics, science and technology. It is of equal importance to me that we continue to provide our students with Christ centered environment which will foster spiritual growth and further development of our students’ biblical world view as well as providing them with an expanded extra-curricular program in which they can develop leadership skills and become well-rounded.”
We are confident that with her expertise in private school education, her years of leadership experience and her passion for Christian education, Mrs. Sorrentino will expand and revitalize Coral Spring Christian Academy’s Middle School.
